Petřín lookout tower

The Petřín lookout tower is Prague’s answer to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The tower is „only” 60 meters high, but the lookout tower is located at a hill, so the top is actually at a higher altitude than the Eiffer Tower in Paris. The Petrin lookout tower was built in 1891 and was then used as an observation tower. Today it is a major tourist attraction and if the weather is clear you can enjoy a beautiful view over Prague from the lookout tower.

You can reach the hill on which the Petrin lookout tower is located on foot. If you want to reach the hill in an easier way you can use the funicular which in itself is a very nice experience. Due to its poor condition, the funicular was forced to stop during the autumn of 2024 and the restoration of the funicular is supposed to be finished during the summer of 2026. Until then, the best way to reach the top of the hill and the lookout tower is using your legs.
